VANCOUVER - The Christina Aguilera/Justin Timberlake concert at Vancouver's Pacific Coliseum Wednesday night has been cancelled because of a delay at the border.
Citizenship and Immigration Canada spokesperson Janice Ferguson says the 16 equipment trucks for the show were held up for about two-and-a-half hours at the border Wednesday morning, which she says is fairly standard.
The background checks revealed that one of the drivers had a criminal record and is inadmissible to Canada.
"They found a replacement driver pretty quickly," she says. "And all the equipment did come through, and they were processed within a reasonable amount of time."
The trucks rolled into B.C. at about 11:30 a.m. Wednesay – not early enough to allow for setting up the stage for tonight's show, says Coralie Hummell of the House of Blues, which is promoting the event.
"They needed at least a 10-hour time frame to set up the stage because it's quite an extensive production…and there just wasn't enough time to get it all together," says Hummell.
There are no plans to reschedule the concert, and Hummell says ticket holders should contact Ticketmaster for refunds.
